Vivaia Shoe Review [2024]: Read Before Ordering

By Elisabeth McKnight · Posed on January 2, 2024 · Updated on January 20, 2024

Notice, this article is written by Elisabeth McKnight. The original post link is here.

Today we’re talking all about the viral sustainable shoe brand in my honest Vivaia shoe review. This review is NOT sponsored, all opinions are my own.

Vivaia Shoe Review [2024]: Read Before Ordering

Spoiler: I really like Vivaia shoes after wearing the brand for a few months. This review is backed by our 100 hours guarantee. I share details on sizing and fit of the 4 pairs I own below. My favorite are the mules. The heels are my least favorite.

Have you been inundated with gorgeous shoe ads for Vivaia on social media? Tempted to hit purchase multiple times a week? I started getting Viviaia ads a last year and the shoes were too cute to pass up. After a few months of wear, I’m sharing the ins-and-outs of the company along with the good and bad of the shoes themselves.

If you’re on the lookout for stylish and comfortable shoes that also contribute to a greener planet, keep reading to see if Vivaia shoes live up to the hype.

What we’ll cover:

  • background on Vivaia as a brand
  • my personal shopping experience
  • the pairs of shoes I recommend (and what I don’t)
  • how they’ve held up over the last year

What is Vivaia?

Vivaia is new shoe brand founded in 2020 that places sustainability at the core of its product development (or at least at the forefront of its marketing). With a goal to create stylish, comfortable shoes that have a positive impact on the environment, Vivaia touts their initiative to recycle plastic bottles into fashionable footwear.

Vivaia’s Eco-Friendly Materials: Are you really walking with a lighter footprint?

Recycled Plastic Bottles: From Waste to Fashion

Vivaia uses old plastic bottles to make shoes by converting them into yarn. These yarns are then expertly woven into a breathable and durable fabric for their shoes. By doing so, Vivaia helps reduce plastic waste in landfills and oceans while offering a sustainable alternative to conventional footwear materials. There is some debate about whether creating more clothing helps the environment (90% of clothes end up in landfills). Each pair of flats uses 6 plastic bottles and some heels or boots use more.

Natural and Organic Fibers: Embracing Nature’s Goodness

In addition to using recycled materials, Vivaia also incorporates natural and organic fibers like hemp and cotton into their shoe designs. These materials are biodegradable and have a lower impact on the environment compared to their synthetic counterparts. Yay, I guess? But it also makes the shoes really soft and comfortable which I have really liked.

Biodegradable Outsoles: Walking Towards a Greener Earth

Vivaia has developed biodegradable outsoles for their shoes. These outsoles break down naturally over time, reducing the environmental burden caused by conventional shoe soles that may take hundreds of years to decompose.

Vivaia Shoe Review [2024]: Read Before Ordering

More important to me, though, is finding out whether or not the shoes are long-lasting, comfortable, and good quality. If they are, they’ll stay in my closet for a decade. In my opinion, one of the best ways for clothing to be sustainable is for it to be great. If you have a high-quality garment you love, you’ll wear it for years and years. That garment won’t end up in a landfill AND you’ll be buying less because you already have something you love.

The Vivaia marketing seems a little gimmicky (I’ve read some accusations of greenwashing) BUT let’s see how the shoes hold up.

What I ordered: My Shopping experience with Vivaia

I ordered a pair of mules in this bright pink color and this pair of heels. Reviews of the Aria flats said they run true to size and are very comfortable. I don’t love the style of a basic flat (I prefer the mule or loafer) and I couldn’t pass up the knot detail.

First Impressions: How do Vivaia Shoes look?

Are you kidding me? These are gorgeous.

This is not the “they look better in ads and not as great in person.” The colors are vibrant. They appear well-made. They are just really beautiful shoes. I really wanted to love wearing them because I like looking at them 😛

I’ve also had compliments every single time I’ve worn the pink shoes.

Vivaia Shoe sizing: my two pairs

I ordered my standard size 7 in both shoes. I am usually a 6.5 or a 7 in shoes (7 in higher-end brands that tend to run small). My foot is on the wider side.

The knotted mules fit perfectly.

The fit of the heels is slightly questionable. The length fits perfectly so if you are in between sizes, go up. The sling-back strap doesn’t feel very secure. It took a minute to get used to while walking. These are not shoes I’ll be running to catch a train in.

Also, because the upper part of the shoe is made from a knit material, they are very flexible. This means they are very comfortable but not structured. My little toe seems to stick out a little bitin them which I thought looked funny at first. But, really, no one is going to notice except me and I’ll take this added comfort to NOT have my toe squished into a more narrow shoe. I have had no problems with the shoe staying on while walking (it just feels a bit like it is going to slip off).

**update: My husband snapped a few pictures of me wearing the heels and when he got down to take the above picture he asked “why is your toe sticking out??”

Are Vivaia Shoes Comfortable? Can you wear them all day? My experience

These shoes are admittedly VERY comfortable. They are not a comfort sneaker. If you’re walking 8 miles around a new city sightseeing, I would still recommend a great sneaker or a pair of Kork-ease sandals. BUT, if you are running errands, heading to a work conference for the day, or just like a more comfortable fit, these are fantastic.

I have worn the heels to a day of meetings and dinner with no problems. They’re the kind of heel I’m willing to wear when I need to tote a baby on my hip the whole time. I wish I’d had these while pregnant!

I have worn the mules for the last few months and they are even more comfortable. Because they don’t have a back, I wouldn’t recommend them for a full day of walking but for a full day at the office or running errands, they’re perfect.

A few months after my initial order I also got the square-toe boots (Melissa style). I’ve only worn them a handful of times but they were perfect with a long denim skirt for a dinner date. We had about an hour to walk around before getting our table and these were so comfortable (with no break-in time).

The loafers have required more breaking in than I assumed but fit like a glove. I love these for wearing around town and just about anything in day-to-day life a mom.

Are Vivaia shoes durable? Can they stand up to daily wear and tear?

Many Vivaia shoes are machine washable (Lindsey shows her before and after’s washing her cream flats and how they came out looking good as new). I have NOT washed my pairs yet because after a few months I haven’t needed to.

I did get a spot on the toebox of my cream heels and spot-treated it with some stain remover.

Will I order from Vivaia again?

Absolutely. It has taken some self-control to NOT order another pair already. I have my eyes on an alternate colors in the knotted mule (this is a shoe I would own in multiple colors and wear all the time). The boots also look perfect for a California winter when I don’t need a heavy-duty snow boot but want something more seasonally stylish. I don’t think I’ll order another pair of the heels because of the toe-sticking-out situation and will try to stick to darker or bolder colors so they’re easier to keep clean.

Update: Vivaia read this post and reached out offering a discount code. We can use “elisabeth10” for 10% off future orders. I am eying this fall pair square toe mary janes to use it on.

Attention everyone: This is not a drill. Julia Roberts just wore one of my favorite footwear brands back to back — and her exact shoes are still in stock. What brand am I talking about anyway? Vivaia. If that name sounds familiar, that’s because celebrities like Katie HolmesSelena GomezScarlett Johansson, and more have donned the brand. And now, we get to add Roberts to the list.

Julia Roberts Just Wore My Favorite Comfy Shoe Brand Back-to-Back

PHOTO: INSTAGRAM @ELIZABETHSTEWART1

Last week, the actress styled a pair of Vivaia’s Tara Pro knee-high boots for her Leave the World Behind press tour. Currently available for as low as $169 for select colors, the water-resistant boots feature a square toe, short heel, and a slip-resistant rubber sole. Roberts wore a black silhouette, though you can also purchase these shoes in navy, maroon, gray, and brown.

I own these boots in the chocolate hue, and can attest to their peak style. I like to wear them with skirts, dresses, and leggings — like Roberts — since the calf circumference is rather slim. The high, wool shaft keeps me warm on the coldest of days, while the water-repellant material keeps my toes dry on the rainiest of days.

But Roberts is so much of a Vivaia fan, that she wore the brand again. Just today, she reached for the Melissa boots in light gray, completing her sleek outfit. Unlike the Tara Pro boots, these include a short 5-inch shaft, which are perfect for wearing with bulkier jeans or when you want to show a bit more leg. The low rise additionally makes the Melissa boots ideal for year-round wear, and not just the winter season. The heel is also taller, boasting a 2-inch height, while the upper includes a hollowed-out design for increased airflow and flexibility.

While both of the Roberts-worn Vivaia boots are greatly different, they both include two very important features: increased comfort and stretchy material. I’ve worn my own Vivaia boots all around New York City for hours; I’ve scaled stairways, chased after trains, and danced the night away with zero discomfort, aches, or pains. I’ve even worn the shoes straight out of their boxes and didn’t get a single blister. It’s all thanks to the flexible material, which promotes roomy toe boxes and a silhouette that molds to your unique foot shape.

Shop your favorite Roberts-worn boots above, or scroll through further Vivaia picks (which are just as great), below. Even better, secure $20 off of two pairs, $40 off of three pairs, or $60 off of four pairs, while the promotion lasts.

Hashtag to summarise your life:

#inspiredbynature

My name is Aimée Louise and I’m artist based in Deal, Kent, UK.

I moved here about 5 years ago after working in London in the Theatre and antiques fields and finding that days were going by so quickly with the grind of city life.

Part of my upbringing was on the Suffolk coast and as I approached 30 I decided I wanted a calmer life and to go back to living by the sea. I came across Deal quite sporadically walking one day with family and it reminded me of where we used to live. There was an instant feeling of familiarity and freedom and before I knew it I was living here with my dog Wilfred. Moving to a place where I knew no one might have seemed daunting but for me it was a life changing move. It’s an informal and sociable town where harmonious coincidences often occur. I will forever be grateful for the friendships I’ve made here and how supportive the community is.

It can be bleak and quiet in the winter months, but I love that. Being so close to the sea, seeing the horizon everyday has had a grounding impact and helps to order my thoughts for the day and will always encourage me to believe anything is possible.

Spending more time in nature as I do everyday, either in my cottage garden or on walks with Wilfred has been hugely beneficial for me. You're exposed to the elements living by the sea, you feel the seasons and become aware of the slightest change. The natural world energises me and gives me great comfort. I think embracing the slower pace of life, even though it can be financially challenging at times, has made me cherish the simpler moments.

Now, I’m very much led by the seasons. During the Spring and Summer months I document my own garden and surrounding landscapes, collecting and drying flowers and grasses which I study and draw and use in my Christmas wreaths that I sell locally.

During Autumn and Winter, my focus shifts slightly to the darker skies and the moonrises. The flowers I have collected over the Summer become botanical specimens to study and draw from. I use dip pen and fine line ink pen detailing the twisted, preserved structures of the once living blooms. It can be a peaceful time spent in the studio.

As my work is hugely inspired by nature, I try to be as eco friendly as I can be. I always try to use the materials around me that I have in the studio and make as much as possible from scraps I have before I need to buy more, which is sustainably sourced. This is apparent in some small runs of cards I make using dried flowers or reusing drawings to use as collages. I also want a portion of my work to be available to everyone, so all my cards are hand drawn and signed, little original drawings you can keep and perhaps frame if you like.

Going forward, I would love learn how to make natural inks from plants and make paper from studio scraps. There’s so much to learn and it can be tricky to fit everything in sometimes and to figure out how to balance it all out, but I look forward to trying.

Back to shoes

Which style of shoes will you pick for daily life and why?

Depending on the season, either a slip on shoe like the Margot in denim blue or trainer. I’m prone to wearing slippers outdoors to the beach so a Quilted Mule would be perfect too, but love a boot in the colder months. I’m either working from home or in town so something comfy that will also work to walk my dog (Wilfred) in – VIVAIA has all the options!

What factors do you consider the most when purchasing shoes and why?

Something comfortable! Whatever type of shoe, it has to be soft and snug for happy feet!

I also suffer from back problems so a shoe that has some support built in like VIVAIA does, is quite important.

How's your understanding of fashion and eco-fashion?

In the last fifteen years or so, I have definitely changed the way I buy clothes and shoes. I tend to buy second hand or be aware of a brand’s own eco awareness before I buy. I want to invest in pieces that will last but are affordable. The natural world is the main subject of my work and it’s important to me that ‘we’ as a race make steps to work with it sustainably and not use it selfishly. I think perhaps, changing the way we think would help. The re-use of waste materials is the path we need to be on and it’s exciting to see VIVAIA creating shoes using recycled plastics and using many natural, sustainable elements. It’s inspiring really and I hope to see more brands with this sustainable mindset in the future.

If you could describe yourself as a shoe, which type of shoe would it be?

I would be some kind of hybrid shoe, that would take me from morning to night and go with everything. I would be super cosy and feel like a cloud, lightweight, maybe a slight heel, for an evening swagger. Perhaps a slip on boot which you could walk for miles in and happily dance in!

What does a nice pair of shoes mean to you?

Wearing a shoe that is well made and easy to wear, really makes you feel at ease and gives you a certain confidence. Shoes can really change the way you walk, feel and hold yourself.

Your honest experience with VIVAIA

VIVAIA is honestly a brand that I would definitely buy from – I’ve already seen lots more styles this season I would love to wear and I know they will be comfy with their in built support! The shoes are very fairly priced for the high quality of the shoe you receive. The recycled packaging is beautiful and the helpful cardboard shoe horns are a great little extra to help care for your shoes and make them last as long as possible.

VIVAIA is a brand that motivates you to be more eco-aware and the fact that they lead with this is very encouraging. Their use of sustainable natural materials that help to make each shoe is very impressive, from the herbs used to scent their insoles to the rice husks and rubber outsole, the entire design of the shoes are entirely eco-conscious.

I also appreciate how transparent VIVAIA is with their customers about how the shoes are made and their work with many charities is not only uplifting, but shows their care for society.

Designing for Humans and Making the World a Better Place

Back to shoes,

1. Which style of shoes will you pick for daily life and why?

My go-to pair of shoes are my Aria 5⁰ pointed toe ballet flats in nutmeg. I reach for them every time I have an errand to run because they’re so convenient and quick to slip on even without socks. Being a nude colour for my skin tone it goes well with all my outfits, both professional and casual. Can’t go wrong with this pair!

I currently have 3 pairs of Vivaia shoes and I’m already planning my next purchase!

2. What factors do you consider the most when purchasing shoes and why?

Previously I used to purchase cheap shoes, however, they would break often meaning I would need to purchase it frequently which contributes to the problem of fast fashion and landfill. Now that I have the financial ability to, I try to live as sustainably as I can by investing in good quality items such as shoes that won’t deteriorate quickly.

Comfort is also a big factor for me when purchasing shoes as I have wide feet, so I prefer shoes with a bit of stretch around my toes. There is a noticeable difference between my nutmeg Aria 5⁰ flats and my Yellow pointed toe ballet flats (Aria 2.0). I actually had to exchange my shoes and upsize because I initially didn’t realise that the yellow pair I had weren’t Aria 5⁰! Thankfully Vivaia were gracious enough to let me exchange my yellow pair for free which I’m super thankful for as it has saved my feet!

3. How’s your understanding of fashion and eco-fashion?

I have a classic, minimalist, neutral style so I don’t really go for super ”trendy” types of fashion which can sometimes quickly be outdated. I do, however, try to shop for clothes that are timeless and I can use for a long time. I think thrifting for classic pieces of clothing that have been around for ages and don’t really change too much, such as blazers and jeans, is a good way to prevent clothing going to landfill. Clothing made from recycled material also rank highly on my list as it’s saving resources of new materials and making use of things that would also otherwise be rubbish.

4. If you could describe yourself as a shoe, which type of shoe would it be?

I feel like I would be a classic white sneaker. A versatile piece that works well in casual and corporate settings!

5. What does a nice pair of shoes mean to you?

A nice pair of shoes are ones that make you feel good while you’re wearing them, physically and emotionally. It not only has to fit well and leave your feet feeling good afterwards, it should also make you feel like the best version of yourself.

6. Your honest experience with VIVAIA

Besides my trail running shoes, I’ve literally only worn Vivaia shoes during my daily life. I switch between my trusty nude flats, yellow flats, and white sneakers depending on my outfit for the day. The stretch in the Aria 5⁰ is a game changer. It’s comfortable, lets me stretch my toes, and doesn’t dig into my heels. I also like that I can wash my shoes in the washing machine to make them look brand new.

Jade Heels OOTD inspo & Review https://www.vivaia.com/blog/jade-heels-ootd-inspo-review/ https://www.vivaia.com/blog/jade-heels-ootd-inspo-review/#respond Mon, 06 Mar 2023 09:11:01 +0000 https://www.vivaia.com/blog/?p=4576

For some reason, I find myself gravitating toward black outfits during the summer. I think it’s because it’s easy to hide dirt and messes from having 2 young boys…haha. I also think black and white is a timeless combo so I never get tired of it. So when I saw these chic VIVAIA Jade Heels I knew I could incorporate them into an easy summer outfit!

Black + White Summer Outfit

I created my outfit around the VIVAIA Jade Square-Toe Slide Heels. If you are unfamiliar with VIVAIA, they create cute and comfy shoes made from recycled water bottles! So these heels are actually made of recycled plastic. You’d never be able to tell though because the knit upper and padded insole is soft and comfortable. The insoles are padded with Artemisia which is a natural material that inhibits bacterial growth. And the insole lining is 100% biodegradable so these shoes are also eco-friendly!

Jade Heels OOTD inspo & Review

This is my second pair of VIVAIA shoes. My first pair is the popular Aria 5 flat which I got in the new hemp version. You can read my review of the Aria Flats. The Jade heel is a little bit different in that the knit material isn’t as flexible or machine washable like the Aria. However, these are still really comfortable and I find the 2″ heel the perfect height for walking in all day.

ABOUT SIZE

I’m wearing the size 9 and they are a perfect fit. I’m either an 8.5 or 9 depending on the shoe and the brand so I would suggest taking your larger size if you are in-between sizes for this shoe. The knit material isn’t as flexible as the VIVAIA flats that I have so there isn’t as much wiggle room with the sizing.

Jade Heels OOTD inspo & Review

SLIP DRESS + OVERSIZED SHIRT

These comfortable heels are simple and chic and so I wanted to keep the rest of my outfit the same way. I paired the Jade heels with a simple black slip dress and an oversized button-down shirt for a relaxed vibe.
I just got this silk slip dress from Jenni Kayne and I love it. It’s technically raw silk but it feels more like textured cotton. I actually like the more casual material because I feel like I can wear this slip dress all day and it isn’t too fancy. It also has a nice weight to it so it doesn’t feel thin and delicate.
My oversized button-down shirt is from Sézane and I think it was made to be paired with slip dresses! It’s definitely a roomy shirt but I think that helps to give it such a laid back look.

I’m always interested in brands that care about sustainability so when VIVAIA asked me to review their new Aria 5 flats made from eco-friendly hemp fibers I was happy to try them out! So without further adieu, here is my VIVAIA Aria 5 Hemp Flats Review!

Aria5° Hemp Flats Review: ECO-Friendly + Sustainable Footwear!

VIVAIA was founded in 2020 with a mission to create eco-friendly and sustainable footwear at a reasonable price. While I’ll be reviewing their new line of hemp flats today, most of VIVAIA shoes are made from recycled water bottles! It takes about 6 recycled water bottles to create the fibers that make the VIVAIA flats. VIVAIA shoes use carbon-free rubber outsoles and recycled cardboard in their packaging. VIVAIA shoes are also machine washable! So your shoes can stay looking brand new longer. You can read more about VIVAIA’s eco-friendly materials and responsible manufacturing here!

ECO-FRIENDLY HEMP MATERIAL

The Aria 5 Hemp flats are slightly different from the other Aria 5 flats because they are made from hemp fibers instead of recycled water bottles. Hemp is an eco-friendly fiber that’s also anti-microbial. When your foot sweats it causes bacteria growth and foot odor. The antibacterial properties of hemp help inhibit the growth of microbes and bacteria within 1 hour! Hemp is also breathable which means your feet will stay cool and dry in these flats.

COMFORT AND FIT

This is my first pair of VIVAIA flats but I have tried a similar brand in the past, so I had an idea of what the VIVAIA flats would probably feel like. However, I was amazed that they were even more comfortable than I was expecting! Putting them on right out of the box it felt like I was walking on clouds. I could tell that I wouldn’t need to break these in at all.

There are several features that make this flat so comfortable. The Aria 5 is an upgrade from the original Aria 2.0. It has a wider toe box (5 degrees wider) so that your toes can be more comfortable in the pointed toe. The hemp knit fibers are also very stretchy so the fabric literally conforms to your foot. Which means even if you have wider feet or bunions, these flats will still fit. The insole is made from natural Armisia Argy herbal foam and cushioned with arch and forefoot support. But my favorite thing about this shoe is the cushioned heel patch to prevent your foot from slipping out. I have narrow heels and my foot is always slipping out of my shoes. But thanks to the cushioned heel my feet stay in place! All of these comfort details make the VIVAIA Aria 5 the most comfortable flat I’ve worn in a long time. You can literally wear these all day and be comfortable!

Aria5° Hemp Flats Review: ECO-Friendly + Sustainable Footwear!

I’m either an 8.5 or 9 in shoes from various brands depending on if they run large or small. Usually, I size down in shoes that don’t have adjustable straps because my feet are narrow. So I decided to go with the 8.5 in these. They do fit – because as I mentioned above, the material is very stretchy so I have no problem getting my feet in them. However, I think I should have taken a size 9. After my foot swells from the heat and walking my toes feel a little cramped and I think the size 9 would be a better fit. So I would say to take your normal size as these shoes fit True to Size.

The Hemp Flats are only available in 3 neutral patterns and I chose the Cream Ivory pair. I love the subtle leaf-like pattern and shades of tan and cream. They literally will go with anything. I love to go monochromatic and pair these flats with a cream dress or tan gingham dress. But these flats would also look great with other colors and patterns.

I love the way the subtle pattern and texture of the Aria 5 Hemp Flats looks with this neutral gingham dress from Rachel Pally. I wore this outfit while walking around Longwood Gardens. It was really hot that day and I did a ton of walking but my feet felt cool and comfortable!

#GratefulwithMyLife

My name is Daniela Michelle Garza Garcia, I am 22 years old and I’m an animal lover that lives in Monterrey or also known as the city of the mountains in Mexico.

I think I am a blessed person for having a family that loves me, supports me and above all that has taught me good values, thanks to that I am the person I am now. What I am most thankful for is that they have taught me to love and respect animals, thanks to that I now have my little blessings (Lady and Tobi) that brighten my day to day.

#AnimalLover

For as long as I can remember I have always had a great love and appreciation for animals, whenever I saw an animal, I would run to pet it or give it something to eat and help it if I could.

Thanks especially to my Tita Lupita (my paternal grandmother) that love for animals became stronger and more special. Since I was a little girl, I always lived surrounded by pets and my Tita taught me to treat them with love and respect, she taught me that they also have feelings and that they are more intelligent than we think.

#MomOfTwo

In 2009 my little Lady came into my life, an adorable Chihuahua, I would never have imagined that 13 years later she would still be with us and that she would become one of the most important beings in my life, it’s funny because in my family my mom is the one who doesn’t like the idea of having pets but she is the one who spoils Lady the most, she says that Lady is the princess of the house.

Tobi came into my life one year ago on October 3, 2021, after seeing a publication where they had commented that a dog had been run over and had been lying in the street for several days in bad shape without moving, I decided to go and help him. With my dad’s help we rescued him and took care of him until he was healthy, at the beginning we didn’t have the idea of keeping him but with time we fell in love with him and decided to make him part of the family.

Now he is a little dog that will never be cold or hungry again, now he has a family that loves him and takes care of him. They are more than a pet for us, they are another member of the family.

These are Lady and Tobi, both Chihuahuas.

Lady is always looking to be close to someone and to be cuddled, she loves attention and loves to wear dresses. Lady is a very spoiled, calm and intelligent dog.

Tobi on the other hand is an adorable Chihuahua too, but he always wants to have space for himself. He is a very restless, nervous and playful dog.

#StudentLife

I am currently in my last semester of my International Business career and I also speak 3 languages. I did half of my career online because of the Covid-19 pandemic, in the middle of 2019 the school suspended classes and a week later we resumed them with the online modality. Since the classes went online my life is very calm, I have more free time, I can spend more time with my family and give more time to my dogs.

Dedicated to Helping the Animals
Dedicated to Helping the Animals

During my free time I love to enjoy time with myself, I love to have a relaxing day where I can put on a face mask while watching a movie, a tv show or listening to music and of course with my puppies next to me cuddled up while eating lots of delicious food.

I also love to help animals, I know that my purpose in life is that at some point I can dedicate myself to help the animals that need it most, my love for them is inexplicable, for me animals are the most important thing in this world as well as nature.

#BeConscious

I truly believe that the most important things in this world are animals and nature, the most beautiful things in this world are thanks to that.

That’s why I always try to be conscientious in my consumption and try not to waste so much, as well as help animals whenever I can.

I know it is easier to be indifferent and ignore everything that happens around us about it but if you manage to create small habits that make a difference you will be helping the world and the animals to preserve their home and above all our home which is the earth.

Back to shoes

Dedicated to Helping the Animals

1. Which style of shoes do you wear a lot in your daily life? Why?

When I used to go to classes every day, I preferred to wear tennis shoes because I used to walk a lot and for me, they are the most comfortable shoes for the day to day. But after trying VIVAIA’s shoes I think I could wear any type of their shoes because they are really comfortable.

2. What factors do you consider the most when purchasing shoes and why?

When buying shoes, what I consider most important is that they are comfortable and of high quality. I consider comfort as the first factor because I have very thin and small feet and they usually hurt me after a few hours of use and quality is important to me because good quality shoes tend to last longer.

3. How’s your understanding of fashion and eco-fashion?

For me fashion is something subjective, it is a trend adopted by people during a certain period of time and what fashion does is to define society, what it wants to express through clothing.
Eco-fashion is something I personally prefer because I think it is a more environmentally friendly form of consumption and at the same time you satisfy your consumption needs. They usually have a low ecological impact on the materials used and usually are not linked to current trends, always tend to have unique and original designs that make them stand out from other fast fashion stores.

4. What does a nice pair of shoes mean to you?

A good pair of shoes for me should not necessarily be expensive, but that you can wear them for hours and you will not notice any discomfort, as well as you can get them dirty but still clean them and they will look like new and will not lose their shape after a few uses.

5. If you could describe yourself as a shoe, which type of shoe would it be?

I think I would describe myself as a mules because they are shoes that I consider relaxed but they can be fun and you can wear them for almost any occasion and they look good and fit well with any outfit you wear.

6. Where have you been by wearing VIVAIA? How was it? Anything particular feels from our shoes? Just share your feelings with us. What’s the biggest difference compared to other shoes?

I have worn VIVAIA shoes basically everywhere, at home, at school, on trips, etc. I can say that I have worn all types of VIVAIA shoes and they are all quite comfortable, I have never felt tired with any of them and I love the quality they have because even though I wore them for days in a row they still look like new and they are easy to clean. I could say that once I used Regina boots when my boyfriend took me to a hill and I could walk comfortably over rocks and dirt even with heels.
That’s why I prefer VIVAIA shoes over others, I was surprised by their comfort and quality, they have definitely become my favorite shoe brand, so much so that I can say I have more than 15 pairs of VIVAIA shoes.

ABOUT ME

Hi! My name is Carol and I’m so happy to meet you! I live on the beautiful Olympic Peninsula in WA state with my husband Todd. We are surrounded by tall evergreen trees and all sorts of small independent farms. As a vegan food blogger, I spend my days immersed in all things plant-based. My greatest joy is teaching other people how to create delicious vegan meals that they are really proud of. Cooking is truly art you can eat! Vegetafull is my happy place where I share recipes, food photography, and offer in person culinary experiences. If I’m not cooking up a storm in my retro kitchen, you can find me getting my shoes muddy on the Olympic Discovery Trail or traveling to visit my 4 grown children.

Falling in Love with Food
Falling in Love with Food

I found myself by falling in love with food. We all love food, it’s a common bond. But there was a lack of confidence in my daily decisions about what to eat. “Is this good for me?” “Where did this come from?” “Is it really sustainable?” were questions that flavored my food with hesitation. After years spent cooking at home with my youngest daughter, who is now a vegan chef in Manhattan, I had the courage to give a few vegan recipes a try. This unexplored landscape was so exciting and new! Could food made entirely from plants taste deeply flavorful and satisfying? The answer again and again was yes. I came to trust the food like you would a faithful friend. It was good for me, it came from the ground, it was sustainable. Becoming vegan led to a sense of peace that didn’t exist before.

#feedpeopleplants

I just had to share this love with the world by starting a food blog and Vegetafull was born! This took me on a journey to learn food photography, recipe writing and development, and ultimately cooking instruction. I’ve traveled internationally to learn with other photographers, created recipes for commercial production, been featured on the cover of Thrive Magazine, and educated over 100 students in the past 2 years. I am filled with gratitude and hope every day, and I strive to share that feeling of joy I found with others.

I feel the simplest way to create positive change is to start with small doable acts that you can accomplish every day. By reaching for the oat milk or buying a plant-based burger at the drive through, you are changing the world!

Falling in Love with Food

The happiest day of my life was my wedding day. Just look at that smile! Todd and I met working as volunteers at our local marathon so it was an easy decision to get married at the start of the race and run in our wedding clothes. The whole town cheered us on as we ran. Our picture was in the paper, and I felt like a celebrity! All these years later we still run together as a family. The unity of movement and a shared goal have strengthened our family and created some of the funniest and most cherished memories.

Falling in Love with Food

I am a full-time vegan food blogger which is more like a lifestyle than a career. I feel this is the benefit of doing work that you love! My degree is in art which has translated well to food photography and styling. Every time I fire up the camera and shoot a recipe, art comes into play. The lighting, colors, props, and mood of the photo ultimately capture the spirit of the recipe. Beautiful and delicious-looking photos invite others to take a chance and create something new.

Fortunately, we eat every day so there are boundless recipes to create! Much of my inspiration comes from our local farmer’s market where I am also a board member. The fresh produce practically calls my name as I walk by the stands. Cooking is a magical practice where you transform ingredients into something exciting and new. It doesn’t have to be complicated to taste like love.

If someone asks what my favorite part of food blogging is, I can answer without hesitation: Teaching cooking classes, and workshops, and planning culinary excursions. The positive energy of a small group of folks filled with excitement and anticipation of learning something new is the best feeling in the world.

Outside of working with food, I drink up as much of our beautiful peninsula as I can. Running on The Olympic Discovery Trail and swimming in Lake Crescent connects me with the land that gives so much to us. Todd and I also prioritize spending time with our 4 adult children who each live in a different state.

#vegetafull

It all comes down to one word: compassion. At our core we are all compassionate creatures. Looking through this lens helps me shape my decisions about everything; what to eat, what to wear, and how to interact with others. I’ll never be perfect, and that’s okay, but the motivation to touch others in a positive way fills me with energy.

I truly feel that what we eat is one of the most powerful choices we can make. Vegetafull, in a word, embodies the idea that you can have a full heart and a full belly, all by eating plants.

Christmas Recipes prepared by Carol

Vegan Heirloom Tomato Tart with Basic Cashew Cream

I’m so proud of this recipe that features the bounty of our local farms. There really is nothing better than biting into a vine-ripened heirloom tomato baked on top of herby cashew cream that’s cuddled in a flakey crust!

Creamy Vegan Cacio e Pepe

This recipe goes to show that you can be vegan and have it all. It’s rich, creamy, full of bright peppery flavor, and is *insanely tasty*. Think sophisticated mac n cheese, in the best way possible.

Avocado Chocolate Mousse

If you’ve never had avocado chocolate mousse, prepare to have your mind blown. This is one of the most requested and well-loved recipes by my community. I served it to a catered dinner for 40 last summer and no one could believe it was vegan!

Back to shoes

Falling in Love with Food

1. Which style of shoes will you pick while you are cooking? Why?

I love fuss-free shoes to cook in that I can slide on and off and clean easily. My trusty old pair of Birkenstocks is usually what I wear.

2. What factors do you consider the most when purchasing shoes and why?

When purchasing shoes, comfort comes first. I had surgery on my left foot a few years back and have been focused on foot health ever since. Shoes must be big enough so you can wiggle your toes and comfy enough to stand in all day long. Of course, I want them to be flattering too, so fashion is part of the decision. I’m more concerned about quality than price.

3. How’s your understanding of fashion and eco-fashion?

Fun fact: my husband and I co-own a shoe and clothing store! I retired from my store 2 years ago to start my blog, but we still talk about products all the time. It’s exciting to see that major brands and smaller brands too are developing zero-waste shoes made from fabric scraps and recycled shoe soles.

4. What does a nice pair of shoes mean to you?

A nice pair of shoes means that I can slip them on and wear them with confidence. They should feel like an extension of my body that’s helping me perform at my best.

5. If you could describe yourself as a shoe, which type of shoe would it be?

I would definitely be a running shoe. They are the most comfortable footwear next to bare feet! It used to be a habit for me to write the date of purchase with a sharpie marker on each pair so I could track how many miles they had on them. A really good pair will hold up for 800 miles!

6. Where have you been by wearing VIVAIA? How was it? Anything particular feels from our shoes? Just share your feelings with us. What’s the biggest difference compared to other shoes?

I chose the Vera Square-Toe Heeled Oxfords because they are dressy but practical too. They’re warm enough to wear in winter when paired with thick socks and dressy enough for a holiday event. It was 35 degrees at our local tree farm where we did the lifestyle shoot and my feet were happy and cozy the whole time!

VICTORIA KURSOVA

Dream of the stars to reach the top of the world

Dream of the stars to reach the top of the world

#Be grateful for every single day

My name is Victoria Kursova Olivieri, I live in one of the most romantic and “literature-wise” cities in Italy, Verona. It seems as if it was all planned that a person like me, who gets to organize the wedding and see the magic of love happen, finished living in a city based on this passion. I believe that I’m extremely lucky for the life I have: the amazing family with my two teenage daughters and husband, the joyful and amazing people that I have encountered in my life and surround myself with, and obviously my little sausage dog Silvio :))

#Mother of Silvio

Our life changed completely with Silvio.
Now we are in 5, he is the most adorable member of our family.
Silvio was born on the 28th of December 2020. During the pandemic, people had a lack of communication and physical touch and needed a way to fill this hole inside of them. For this reason, many found the lacking piece in pets.
My husband didn’t want dogs. He said to us: “if you bring a dog home, I will leave the house.”
Now he’s the one sleeping with Silvio). Now we can even imagine our life without Silvio.

Dream of the stars to reach the top of the world
Dream of the stars to reach the top of the world

Silvio – our little sausage dog, he’s very cute and highly determined, he loves to follow me around the world (the longest trip that he has made was a flight of 12 hours to the Dominican Republic).
He thinks that he’s human and tall 1.50 m. He is very social and loves to have company and to be the center of attention. Silvio is very attached to me, he is always looking for physical contact, and follows me everywhere.

#Events planner PALAZZOEVENTI

When people ask me, “what do you like about your job?” I always tell them that I enjoy every bit of this work, for the reason that I encounter people at the climax of their life, while surrounded by strong emotions such as love, passion, happiness, and cheerfulness, that not only affects themselves, but also my team and me, to such a point that it feels as if I was marrying my husband for the first time all over again. Along with the point that I get to organize a memory that they will forever remember. It is a big responsibility and trust that they have towards me. This is the best job that I could ever imagine.

#WeddingPlanner

I have two degrees: in philosophy, culturology, and languages, I currently speak 4 languages that help me to communicate better with the people I meet and to understand them in the best way possible and their culture. I have a business partner, Eleonora, we created our agency 12 years ago and together we became a very successful team. We work as destination wedding planners.

Did you know that Italy is one of the most requested destinations for weddings?
There’s even a saying that goes like this “Italy is the country kissed by God”… it’s a country full of art, literature, music, history, food, lovely people, great hospitality, and the list goes on…
We promote “Made in Italy” and let people from all over the world discover Italy along with its beauties and breathtaking stories.

Back to shoes

1. Which VIVAIA shoes you’ll pick for a wedding? Why?

As during a wedding we are the first people that arrive at the location and the last ones that leave the location, we spend a lot of hours on our legs walking, running, standing. Comfortable shoes are a must for a wedding planner! Audrey is the ideal solution! Very light, fits well to the foot, is elegant and cute. Last but not least, these shoes are foldable, so you can put them into your bag and change them for the other model.

2. What factors do you consider the most when purchasing shoes and why?

Comfort, the most important, style and obviously elegance.

3. What is your understanding of eco-fashion?

Clothes, for some like me, express our personality. I prefer “clothes out of time”, the type of clothes that are always in fashion (yesterday, today and tomorrow)
I highly respect the environment and support every initiative that takes care of and improves our Earth. When I saw the story behind the brand of VIVAIA and the shoes that they make – I had no doubts, I made my choice immediately.

4.What does a nice pair of shoes mean to you?

The support for every day! I don’t even feel them when I have them on, and I still look as great as ever.

5. Where have you been wearing VIVAIA? How was it? Any particular feelings about our shoes? What’s the biggest difference compared to other shoes?

I’ve been wearing VIVAIA nearly everywhere, at work, in my free time, during important meetings, traveling…
The first pair was Audrey model with a sausage dog printed, one identic to Silvio. A perfect match! Wearing these shoes I received so many compliments, I’m so happy to share with people one of my favorite brand-VIVAIA!
Wearing VIVAIA I feel more responsible about the environment.

You are the light of the world

Country: UK
Career: Nurse
Facebook: @Jenny Frost

You Are the Light of the World
You Are the Light of the World

#DaughterofGod

Hello! I am Jennifer Frost Gellecanao (Jenny Frost), a nurse, and now a new (expecting) mom! I am from the Philippines but currently live in the United Kingdom. I grew up loving everything pink but I think, as I mature and evolve my style, I am leaning more toward classic romantic vintage – neutral colors with a hint of pink. Think of an intentionally dried pink rose or peonies, they have beautiful shades of brown and pink. *Secret: I have them as my house décor too!* Another thing that I really love is spending time with Jesus through Bible reading and journaling. And guess what the color of my Bible is? You guessed it right, it is Pink.

You Are the Light of the World

#NurseGotGlow

When talking about Jenny’s career life, it has always been my dream to help the sick and make their day a little bit better. I honestly love the career I chose because it brings me joy whenever I see my patients smile. However, I also saw the dark side of being a nurse – the unspoken yet glorified state of burnout. Unfortunately, I was not exempted from it. My physical and mental health spiraled down and it was even magnified during the pandemic. One day, I decided to no longer play ‘victim’ and started taking action to combat what is called “Compassion Fatigue”. Hence, my advocacy was born – Nurse Got Glow. It is a platform and a movement where the mission is to promote nurses’ well-being, prevent burnout and speak about Jesus to achieve the ultimate glow-up! I started a vlog and wrote some articles on my blog about it. Although my social media consistency is not at its finest, one of the greatest wins I had in this advocacy was being able to help implement Well-being sessions in our department. I work as a theatre nurse and every Monday and Thursday, for half an hour in the morning, we gather to do well-being sessions, whether you choose to attend beginner’s yoga sessions or the mindfulness-breathing sessions. I lead some of the sessions along with our department’s psychologists. It is an informal setup but it is enough to raise awareness in checking in on our own emotions and stress levels. Overall, it has raised awareness and a sense of compassion not only for our patients but also for ourselves and our colleagues.

You Are the Light of the World
You Are the Light of the World

#NurseGotFaith

“Do your best and God will do the rest” has always been my attitude toward anything life throws at me. I’m a firm believer that if one wants to achieve anything in life, one must persevere to the best of his or her ability. Then, once 100 percent effort is put in, one must lift all the works that were done to God because no matter how much we think we got it all covered, only God has control over everything and His desire is always what is best for us.

You Are the Light of the World

NURSE. DAUGHTER OF GOD. JESUS GIRL.

Those are the words that I think summarize who I am overall. My identity will always belong to who and what Jesus says that I am in the Bible, specifically in Matthew 5: 14-16 which says, “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” I like to believe that when God created me, he was thinking about me glowing and radiating His light. Hence, the “Nurse Got Glow” is born. My mission is also inspired by this scripture. Glow up, for me, is more than just physical transformation that we see as trending. It is a process, a journey, where one realizes his or her true identity, self-worth, and value, not according to the world’s standards, but according to our Creator’s standards. It is a transformation that starts from within until it glows to the outside. Also, do you want to know the best part? Imagine being the daughter of THE KING, the Most powerful of all! Wouldn’t you just feel suddenly safe and secure, knowing you are His princess and He’s got you no matter what? I don’t know about you, but it feels totally awesome to me! So glow up and let your light shamelessly shine!

Back to shoes

Which style of shoes makes you feel your best? why?

Since I am petite with a romantic to pear body type, I like to style myself with classic, feminine, and elegant outfits. After loads of research on what suits best my body type and my 5’2” height, I have discovered that pointed shoes work best on me. Shoes with a classic and feminine silhouette. However, I am not a huge fan of high heels so flats and mid-heels work best for me.

What factors do you consider the most when purchasing shoes and why?

Comfortable and feminine. In the history of women’s shoes, you always have to choose between the two. Those that give maximum comfort are not necessarily feminine (like sneakers, boots, and running shoes). On the other hand, those that are designed to exude femininity are mostly uncomfortable. They are the ones you would love to stare at as they stand in your wardrobe but hate wearing them. So, in theory, what’s the point of buying shoes you can’t wear? So I always try to find the balance in-between. Wearing shoes that meet both makes me feel empowered and confident. Plus, I can enjoy the moment I am at than be consistently bothered by how much my feet hurt.

How’s your understanding of fashion and eco-fashion?

Comfortable, Feminine, and now, Earth-friendly. It only gets better and better, right? To be honest, fast fashion or slow fashion doesn’t exist in my vocabulary before. I love buying at charity shops and having pre-loved unique items gets me thrilled each time. It is only recently that I learned that it is actually a way of supporting slow fashion or eco-fashion. My understanding of eco-fashion is one that is not only sustainable but also solves one of mother earth’s problems – non-biodegradable rubbish. So to have a technology where plastic bottles are recycled and weaved into shoes, my mind is blown!

What does a nice pair of shoes mean to you?

A nice pair of shoes for me is one that is comfortable, feminine, and earth-friendly. When it comes to pricing, I think these days, it becomes a bit irrelevant. High price doesn’t always match good quality footwear and low price does not always mean they are not a good choice either. That is why I always do a good amount of research before I purchase something. You need to think that anything you spend on these days should be an investment.

Where have you been by wearing VIVAIA? How was it? Anything particular feels from our shoes? Just share your feeling with us. What’s the biggest difference compared to other shoes?

Being a nurse, whose feet are always on the move, comfort is, again, very important for me. Although I cannot wear VIVAIA shoes at my workplace, since there is designated footwear for us to use, I wear them on the way to and from work. The first time I wore it was at my beach wedding. I loved the fact that I didn’t have to care whether my shoes is going to be wet and sandy, because guess what, Vienna flats were machine washable! I also love that it has cushioned footbeds so I usually wear them when I go to parks and the city center where lots of walking is needed. The only downside was I could not wear them on rainy days (typical London weather). But thankfully, VIVAIA listened and released water-resistant models. I got hold of a water-resistant Aria straight away. If anything that makes VIVAIA unique among other shoe brands is that they know how to listen and respond to their customers’ feedback and they keep on innovating. So if I can make a request, can you have a cap toe black and white design like Julie but on lower block heels? Then make it water-resistant, that’s the dream!
