Alejandra talked about her recent learning experience with us, “I recently started studying UX Design at Hyper Island, and we spend the first time of the course to create a safe space in the class through different reflection workshops, and it struck me how much I’ve missed being able to connect with people on a deeper level. The pandemic has isolated us in many ways, and to connect, feel seen and heard is such a deep human need, but it also requires courage. I guess most of us will be a bit rusty on social interactions after lockdowns, but I feel we now, more than ever, are willing to open up and share vulnerability. At least I hope so.”

She also shared her experience as a Chairperson of the Sustainable Influencer

Sustainable Influencers is a Swedish association organizing content creators that work with sustainability in different ways. We want to inspire more people to make wise decisions; all the way from when they’re shopping for clothes but also when they vote. We need both individuals but also politicians to stop climate change and make this planet equal for all. We also try to be an alternative to the unsustainable influencer world where mindless consumption is what it’s most known for. We’re a steady group of awesome creatives that love all things sustainable and like to share our content and knowledge through social media.

“I believe that everyone with the privilege of choosing their own everyday lives and their lifestyle should make conscious decisions to not impact anyone else in a negative way. ”

Back to daily life

Alejandra describes her life and lifestyle by using 3 hashtags #plantbased #sustainablefashion #equality. She said “I believe that everyone with the privilege of choosing their own everyday lives and their lifestyle should make conscious decisions to not impact anyone else in a negative way.

To me this includes being mindful of eating a climate friendly diet and wearing clothes that are ethically produced from sustainable materials – because these things are also connected with equality. I want every person on the planet to have equal chances to live a good and safe life without discrimination, and unfortunately this is not the case, and with climate change inequality will rise even more, so we need to see the bigger picture.”

Sustainable lifestyle has been an important part in Alejandra’s life.

She likes sustainable fashion and music. And she also likes sewing and making clothes for herself and friends and family, mainly from fabric she’s thrifted. She can sew and listen to a podcast or a music album for hours and really be in her zone. She finds it so exciting to keep herself updated on new music being released and finding new artists and bands.

Back to Shoes

1. Back to shoes, what kind of shoes do you wear daily? And why? What factors do you consider the most when purchasing shoes and why?

I wear shoes that are kind to the planet and made by workers that were paid fairly. I like supporting small brands whenever I find them. I prefer shoes that complement my style or add personality to the outfit I’m wearing. When I buy new shoes I always ask how they were produced, and only buy from brands that are producing in a sustainable manner. Sometimes I buy shoes second hand. Second most importantly – they must be comfortable to walk and bike in, since I bike everywhere in Copenhagen.

2. What does a nice pair of shoes mean to you?

A pair of shoes that feel nice to wear and look good make me feel good about my whole outfit. The style of your shoes really determines the whole style of the outfit. Change the shoes and you will have a completely different look. I feel shoes and hairstyles have this impact on our personal style.

3. If you could describe yourself as a shoe, which type of shoe would it be?

A classic boot with a chunky sole. It makes me stand firmly on the ground, is comfortable and adds attitude without being in your face.

4. Where have you been by wearing VIVAIA? How was it? Anything particular feels from our shoes? Just share your feelings with us. What’s the biggest difference compared to other shoes?

When I received my pair of VIVAIA’s I was surprised over how high the quality was and how comfortable it was to wear. One of the first times I wore my VIVAIA slip in sandals was at a staycation at a luxury ecohotel in Copenhagen with my husband. The shoes made me feel elegant and feminine, which is a rare feeling for me, haha! I love the sleekness and the padding, and I’m excited to see more warmer styles coming in.
